meat beat manifesto - new 12″ & album out on Planet Mu

news, releases — mr kwest on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

a true legend is back. maybe not for the ravers, but definitely for the headz if you’re into deep, dark and noisy sounds.

formed 1987 in Swindon/UK, MBM came up with a couple of outstanding industrial/hip hop/breakbeat 12″ releases and the mind-blowing 1989 debut album “Storm The Studio” on Rob Deacon’s vanguard Sweatbox Label (In The Nursery, The Anti Group, …). just one year later in 1990, after signing to the belgian label Play It Again Sam, the 12″ >Helter Skelter/Radio Babylon< hit the streets and is today considered “one of the first breakbeat/techno releases that was responsible for kick-starting the Hardcore & Jungle era in the UK”. to set an example how influential they were, compare this to that.
